By Leslie Ball

Dogs are considered the best friend to man. Many people have these animals as pets. People might prefer a certain breed of dog, such as the Doberman Pinscher. This is a medium to large breed of domestic dog that was originally developed during the 1890s by Karl Friedrich Louis Dobermann, a German tax collector. There are numerous pet stores, shelters and breeders who have dobermans for sale.

Pinschers are a common breed of pet. These dogs are known for their alertness, loyalty and intelligence, which makes them ideal companions. At one time, they were mostly considered guard or police dogs. These animals are available for purchase through many different sources. The cost may be based on the age, health, pureness of the dog and the seller.

These are typically medium-large size and have a square build. Their coats are short. They are athletic and compact. Most are switch and have high endurance. Pinschers are expected to be obedient, watchful, proud and determined. The animal was first used as a guard dog and so many males are still perceived to have a muscular, noble and masculine look. Females are typically much thinner.

Some might prefer to get these animals while they are young and still puppies so they can establish a bond with them. Others have more interested in rescuing dogs from shelters and giving them a new life. Either way, there are plenty of sources that people can utilize to buy purebred dobermans. These same sources might also have mixed dogs that are half pinscher.

People are encouraged to learn more about a breed for they decide to take it in as a pet. Furthermore, animals from a shelter might have a history that pet owners should be aware of. People are encouraged to ask questions and share their concerns before they get a doberman from these facilities. Some are interested in getting a pinscher puppy, which might be available from a pet store, breeder and some shelters.

Pet owners should have an idea of what is involved with caring for these animals. Dogs all have their own individual personalities, but certain traits are present within all animals of a breed. Consider the needs and desires of the animals. Make sure they have all that they need in order to stay healthy and happy in a home.

Dobermans do not require much. They minimally shed and typically enjoy grooming. Their nails may require frequent trimmings because they grow fast. Their ears should be cleaned regularly to avoid buildup of wax and debris that could lead to infection. Brushing the teeth regularly is also recommended. Most of these animals are social. They have a lot of energy and like to get exercise. They are expected to thrive in home where they have plenty of space to move around.

It is important to do research on these breeders. It is important to find the right one to ensure the dog is, in fact, purebred and carries all the natural instincts and traits of the breed. Shelter dogs might act in different ways based on the past owners or the circumstances that led them to be in the shelter. This may impact how well they adjust to new owners and homes.
