The Importance Of Obedience Training For Dogs Houston TX

By George Walker

This is a very broad topic because people have vastly differing ideas about what "obedience training" actually is! I would like to talk about both sides of the "obedience teaching" concept, in order to perhaps clear up some of the confusion that may exist among dog owners. Sad to say that a large number of owners spend very little or no time at all on the teaching of their pet, either because of lack of time, interest, or maybe dare I say laziness, or maybe they believe the dog will magically acquire all the good manners it needs simply out of thin air and ignoring the fact that obedience training for dogs Houston TX is required.

Simple teaching starts from teaching your pets to respond or come to you every time they are called. Basic and simple commands such as "come", "sit", "heel", and "stay" is also a good way to start. Teaching them how to be obedient and kind is beneficial both to them and to their owners, and to other people as well.

Making a puppy housebroken. It might be the case you just got a puppy, and the puppy needs time to get used to your family and its surroundings. You need to house break the dog to avoid further problems down the road.

Properly-trained ones are also able to join or come with their owners when they go early morning jogging and walking. They can also join their owners for picnics and walking around parks and in other public places. They don't need to spend too much of their time home alone as you have the confidence that they can pretty much deal with other people. Teaching them about the difference between right and wrong makes them less harmful animals. They become more responsible and develop a great attitude in every situation they are in.

Verbal command. Dogs respond surprisingly well to verbal commands. It is possible to train your dog so it reacts to your commands, but make sure not to confuse him while you train it listening to your voice. You could use commands like "No", "Jump", "Sit Down", "Come", and "Go".

Of course the other kind of "obedience dog teaching" is used by the police force and other organizations that use these specially trained dogs to perform highly skilled and often life saving tasks as part of their everyday lives.

Above all, training not just provides them with the chance to develop new skills and proper behavior, but it is also a perfect opportunity for you to bond with them and improve owner-and-dog communication. Dog training also helps you and your pets work together as a team.

It just goes to show that dogs are capable of so much more than we really ask of them, and in the right hands can be trained to be eyes, ears, legs, hands to someone, sniff out drugs, stop people from drowning, dig them out of snowdrifts, herd sheep and cattle, pull sleds over miles of frozen land, lug heavy weights, you name it and some famous dog has probably done it, goodness me, some people even make them dance!
