Your dog is special and sophisticated so you, the owner, must be skilled and committed if you want success. Here are some advice on how to be a good master and a canine breeder.

These dogs are like human beings and they need to be checked up frequently. If you are planning to have your female bred, you must take her to the vet first for health check up. The vet should allow her to give birth after finding out she can handle it. In addition, you might also need to ask certification from some regulatory agencies when you want to correctly propagate her breed.

She should have already heated at least twice in her lifetime and should be at least 18 months old. She should also be coming from disease free and defect free descendants. This will protect the breed from any genetic issues for the coming generations. Consequently, once a breeding error is done in the present breed, it can take years for it to be corrected.

This is the reason you should have full commitment when breeding bulldogs. It will require full attention once your female gets pregnant and the weeks during that time frame. You should be ready to adjust with certain aggressive behaviors that your dog might project during pregnancy. Furthermore, you should prepare yourself for any risk of puppies dying or puppies becoming orphaned.

You must also be willing to clean up their mess especially their poop in your backyard. They can get very noisy at night as well and they will test your patients like little kids of your own. You will also sacrifice some of your chances socializing by attending to your puppies.

Breeding can also get financially draining as well. Some fees could even be more expensive that what you have paid for the stud. You have to open your mind for any financial issues if you will take this responsibility.

After all, if you have accepted all these responsibilities you have stepped ahead of the game already. It might take effort, money, energy, and time to be a good breeder. Once you surpass the challenges in becoming one, you can then reap the fulfillment and financial advantage.
