Learn About Leopard Print Dog Collars

By Jocelyn Davidson

Dog collars are wrapped on canines to serve different functions. The styles and designs in them make them suitable for different environments and functions. Leopard print dog collars are imprinted with leopard coat marks to make them unique and outstanding. Their unique nature and prints make them easy to notice even in a wide collection.

Dog owners use a collar that suits their own needs because the uses are many. However, restraining dogs is a general function for which they are used. Bands used for restraining purposes normally have leashes attached to them for owners to hold. The owner uses the leash to prevent the canine from jumping on people when moving around. Dog walkers use bands for restraining purposes mostly.

Identification is another general and major use for ribbons. People are able to identify their canines from a group of others with ease because bands have different shapes, width, colors, and are made of different materials. Veterinary clinics are some of such places where many dogs are normally founds. Many people end up taking the wrong dog home due to lack of collars.

Besides using the band itself to identify a canine, some people place additional data on the band. Some of the most commonly added information include contact information such as telephone numbers, address, and name of the owner. The registration number, age, breed, and other information about the canine may also be printed on a paper and attached on the band. Such information is important in locating the owner of a lost dog.

Dogs taken to veterinary doctors vary in their medical requirements and are many too. The doctors need a way of knowing the kind of medication to provide to which animal. Mismatched prescriptions or treatment can be given if there is no way of identifying the dog and the medical attention required. This is where bands become vital. They hold such important medical information. Tags printed with the information are placed around the neck on a collar.

Trainers make use of collars while training canines. Mostly head halters are the common type of band used for training. Head halters help in focusing the attention of a dog on its trainer. The head of the canine is restrained, preventing it from losing focus and only to concentrate on the trainer. This way, training sessions can be held for several hours. Head halters are preferred because they make the training exercise progress faster and more effectively.

Even though head halters provide a better means of training, the trainer must not leave them on after training sessions. This is due to the fact that they are uncomfortable to the dogs. Today, there has been a lot of changes in these products to a point where initial functions for which some of them were meant are being ignored. For example, spiked collars are no longer considered as a protective gear but, more as fashion items on big breeds.

Initially, spiked bands served as protection for necks against bites from wolves, leopards, and other canines. This has slowly changed over time. Bands also in use today include choke, break away, flotation, flea, and lighted bands among others. They all do different tasks.
