Cone Of Shame Dogs Activities

By Alta Alexander

There are several reasons for dogs to end up wearing one of these, and it is most often after being Spayed or neutered to prevent chewing the stitches. Sometimes doggies get injured, and it stops them from disturbing the stitches or chewing on the wound. You can easily help them through this ordeal by just making the collar enjoyable. Here are a few ideas to make sure your dog is not among the Cone Of Shame Dogs.

Most dogs already have plenty of favorite toys. The smaller toys are ideal to add to the mix by suspending them from the edges of the collar. Use soft cotton rope and a standard paper hole punch at varying places along the edge then run the cotton rope through the holes and secure it tightly to the desired toy.

Soft stuffed animals are also a winner with most canines, and these are just as easy to staple along the outermost rim of the cone. Try to mount them so that when your dog takes a nap, the lovely little soft item is enjoyable to cuddling. Any soft object is also a possibility for both fun and comfort.

If you and your dog enjoy watching Sci-Fi, consider attaching items related to your favorite shows. Perhaps draw a rocket ship in one area, and streamers in another to simulate rocket exhaust. Stars and planets from other regions of space help fill in the gaps and give you dog a sense of watching TV with you.

Flowers are always pleasant scenery regardless of the time of year. Some big daisy petals around the outer edge help your dog look happy. Be creative and come up with other flowers and blooming options to spruce up the cone, while spending time with your dog. They love all the attention and know that when you laugh, you are happy. This makes them happy, too.

If you are an artist and good with drawings, sketch out some creative designs that include things dogs like. Go for things like areas of the park you usually attend, or something comical that reveals your dog's personality. This is a perfect opportunity to practice obedience commands and have your dog's complete attention.

Does your dog do impersonations? Either way the cone makes a perfect backdrop for experimenting with different characters. Perhaps something from history, or a TV series your dog always watches. Make some fake ears out of old stuffed toys, or add a beard from a tattered crochet throw. Try something different and brilliant to help ease their boredom and shame. They love all the attention you give them, so make it count while you can.

All of these ideas are excellent ways to spend quality time with your pet, but some pet owners have very limited time. If you are too caught up with a job and other responsibilities to create your own, you can always buy these medical devices fully decked out with amazing art and practical applications.
