Searching For Quality Cavachons For Sale

By Arthur Peterson

People find themselves attracted to certain breeds of dogs for a lot of different reasons. Many times, it is because of the animals' special characteristics, specific inherent qualities, or just the way they look. Individuals seeking designer breeds like Cavachons for sale should be prepared to do some preliminary research in order to have a smoother transaction.

Some people think that this type of transaction is as simple as locating a breeder and trusting that everything is going to turn out just fine. However, with designer breeds - dogs created by breeding two different types of purebred dogs - there is a bit more involved than simply making a purchase. They typically come at a higher price because they are harder to produce in good quality and getting a good mix takes extra work.

One reason it is difficult to produce a true Cavachon that possesses all the traits and characteristics that are desired, is because high quality can only be achieved in a first generation puppy. That means that its parents are a full-blooded Cavalier King Charles Spaniel and a purebred Bichon Frise. Two first gens can reproduce, however those features and qualities for which they were desired will start to deteriorate in that litter and all that follow.

When purchasing a designer dog, potential owners are trusting their breeder to not only know what to look for in the purebred parents for the best results, but also that their integrity will allow them to demand only the best. If the contributors carry any illnesses are genetic flaws, those can be passed to the puppies and the mix becomes substandard. Interested individuals need to know what to look for.

Step one is locating breeders that are known for producing only high-quality litters and for having extensive knowledge about the three breeds involved. Talking to current or previous Cavachon owners regarding their experiences will help one know who to consider and who to avoid. This avenue presents a way to gather multiple options to choose from.

After gathering recommendations, it would be advantageous to make physical visits to each of the considered facilities. This allows the potential client an opportunity to view living conditions for the animals, see how they are treated and fed, and to get a feel for how concerned and knowledgeable the breeders are. If an actual site visit is not possible, one should request at least a live video chat tour at a random time.

Potential buyers need to feel free to ask their breeder anything that is on their mind, especially questions like how often the mother produces a litter, the health guarantees and shots that the pup will receive, and their experiences with this particular breed. This is a commitment that will last for the dog's entire lifetime so knowledge is important. Consider it a positive sign when the breeder asks questions as well, because it shows that they are have a bigger concern for the welfare of their pups than simply making money.

Because this purchase is going to be a significant investment, it would definitely be in one's best interest to be selective in their choice of breeder. Learn about the breed so that one knows what to expect. Starting this journey with adequate knowledge can make it so much easier.
